Window Cleaners Scam

Hello all,

One of our NHW Coordinators has let us know about a “Window Cleaners” scam going on in their area. Please pass around your watches as it may spread to other areas. The report is as follows:

At least nine local residents have been recent victims of a pair of tricksters who pretend to be window cleaners. Householders have been tricked into paying up to £10, some on more than one occasion. When an 80-year-old householder refused to pay they became rather aggressive towards him.

The tricksters have been active in Netherton, from Bourn View Road to the Bird Estate. Their method is to knock on the door and ask for payment for having cleaned your windows whilst you were out. Whatever your response, they produce clever, convincing lies.

They claim to have merged with your regular window cleaner, who is a relative, and they point to several nearby houses already on their books.

If asked for their contact details they promise to push their card through your letter box later that day. Needless to say, it doesn’t appear.
