Bolster Moor Community defibrillator
In the last edition of Can Can we reported that we now have a defibrillator for our community, sited outside the farm shop, on the wall opposite the coffee shop. It is now registered with West Yorkshire Ambulance service. If anyone is experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack, the advice is to call 999, and ask for the code on the keypad attached to the defibrillator cabinet. Send someone to get the device, and if the person has gone into cardiac arrest or has collapsed, start chest compressions. The defibrillator will automatically instruct the user through a series of voice prompts – previous training is not essential. The 999 operator will also stay on the line to instruct the user.
We are extremely grateful to the people and organisations that generously helped with fundraising for the defibrillator .
